People often believe in paranormal situations, especially gamblers: you can see them carrying good luck charms or play always in a certain way to help raise their chances to win. Legends, stories and many interesting superstitions have been part or the history of the world for ages. The NFL is no exception: here are some of the most famous NFL urban legends of our time:
The Madden Curse: this curse began with the EA sports and their NFL based video games named after the Oakland Raiders head coach. The Madden NFL video game has been sold since 1989 and at the beginning it will always have a picture of John Madden on the cover, yet for the past 7 years, the cover is a selected NFL player performance. All the players that have been featured on the box cover have gone through terrible streaks of bad luck, including bad football injuries and disappointing performances during the NFL season.
The Super Bowl Indicator: Apparently, the SBI (Super Bowl Indicator) has been on the money for 32 out of a total of 40. Through the years there has been an apparent correlation between the NFL Super Bowl winner and the behavior of the Stock Market that year: If a team from the American Football Conference (AFC) wins usually translates to a down market, yet if the old National Football League (NFL) wins brighter days will come along.
Campbell’s Soup Curse: Apparently, just like having the honor of being featured on the cover of the NFL game, players who are recognized by the very famous Campbell’s Soup are destined to a future of injuries, obscurity and bad luck. The legend says that as a soon as the players are featured in one of Campbell’s Chunky Soup commercials, their chances to play in the Super Bowl disappear.
I hope these three legends made you think. At least, next time you want get into the stock market fun you will make sure you consider the previous NFL Super Bowl results.
